How to turn a fraction into a decimal by hand - the second method
If the denominator can be changed into 10, 100, 1000, or another power of ten, multiply numerator and denominator by the same value. The numerator then maps directly to decimal places.
For example, 3/4 can be rewritten as 75/100, so the decimal is 0.75.

The fraction 7/8 converts to 0.875 because 7 divided by 8 is 0.875. Rounded to two decimal places, it becomes 0.88.
